Landscape and macro (close up) photography has always been my passion. From a young age I knew that photography would be my ideal job. Also knowing that there aren’t many positions that fit this criteria, I knew I would have to create it myself. Starting my own business was something I had dreamt about but I needed some motivation to do it.
That motivation came when asked to put on an exhibition as a fundraiser for a non for profit organisation. It seemed like a great opportunity to launch my business. The exhibition was planned for March so this led to a few frantic months of preparation. The exhibition contained 12 photographs and a range of 10 greeting cards.
Now nearly 5 years on my business has slowly expanded. My greeting card range now consists of more than 40 cards and new products like gift tags and postcards have been added.
Another way that my business has changed in this time is the addition of my son to the family. As raising him is my first job, my business has become my second but is still important and something I really enjoy doing.
I am a proud Australian and all my products are either printed in Adelaide or made in Australia. As there are so many talented and quality business in Adelaide, I love to support them.
I call myself a creation photographer as it is a great way to describe the world around us. It fits the beautiful natural creation that surrounds us, the man made creation that humans have made like buildings and jetties, and the artistic scenes that we create like the ones the depict Christmas and birthdays.
Photography by Kate is my business. I love it and look forward to sharing the beauty of creation with you.
